At Alfa, our climate strategy starts from a fundamental technical premise: the cleanest energy is the energy not consumed. Therefore, we focus our efforts on thermal optimization of processes and reducing energy intensity, seeking to decouple our production growth from the carbon footprint.
• Energy Matrix Management: Our operation maintains the priority of using lower-emission fuels (such as natural gas). However, we manage our matrix with flexibility regarding the supply context, always striving to integrate the cleanest and most efficient energy source available in the market to guarantee industrial continuity.
• Efficiency by Design - Dry Grinding: Our dry grinding technology is an eco-efficiency standard. Thanks to this process, we avoid consuming 0,5 m³ of natural gas per square meter of ceramic produced, structurally reducing CO2 emissions associated with manufacturing.
•Energy Demand Management: We implement continuous improvement programs seeking to reduce energy intensity year after year, optimizing the use of kilns and machinery to
• Exploring Renewables Energy: We look to the future by investing in source diversification. We advance in the implementation of photovoltaic solar energy our retail operation in Colombia and maintaining an active search for cutting-edge alternatives such as hydrogen.
At Alfa, we conceive water as a shared and finite natural asset. Therefore, we have transformed our operation towards a closed-loop model that unites technical efficiency with environmental responsibility. We treat and reuse water internally again and again, achieving two major goals: minimizing extraction from natural sources and guaranteeing no polluting discharges from our production complex in Soacha, Colombia.
• Innovation at the Source - Dry Grinding: We are global pioneers in implementing dry grinding for raw material (clay) preparation. This technological decision eliminates water use in the most intensive stage of the process, generating a structural saving of 2,9 liters of water per m² of tile produced compared to conventional standards.
• Recirculation Systems: We maximize the use of existing resources. Thanks to our internal treatment plants, nearly 60% of the water required for manufacturing our products comes from recovered sources within the same plant, decreasing the demand for new water by more than 40%.
• Zero Discharge: We operate under a scheme of total responsibility for our effluents. All industrial and sanitary wastewater is treated and reincorporated into the production process, guaranteeing zero polluting discharges.
We have left behind the linear model of "take, make, dispose" to adopt a Circular Economy approach. At Alfa, we understand that waste is simply raw material in the wrong place. Therefore, we redesign our industrial and logistics flows to guarantee that every material—from raw clay to final packaging—has a second opportunity and remains useful within the economic cycle for as long as possible.
We implement innovative practices and collaborate closely with partners to transform our waste management. From product design to collaboration throughout the supply chain, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact and maximizing resource efficiency.
• Aiming to be Zero Waste: Our production line operates under a strict internal recovery system. We reincorporate 100% of non-conforming material (raw or fired breakage) into the mix and recover industrial sludge, transforming what was once debris into input for new top-quality products.
• New Opportunity: We seek alternatives for managing non-conforming raw materials like clays, so they can be utilized in our own or third-party production processes.
• Reverse Logistics and Packaging: We extend responsibility beyond the factory. Our cardboard packaging is made with 100% recycled materials, and we execute a robust pallet recovery program, managing to repair and reuse 90% of them, avoiding pressure in natural resources as wood.
• Integral Valorization: We manage waste intelligently. We recover more than 90% of total waste generated in the operation through recycling or reuse. Even our organic waste (cafeteria and pruning) is transformed via composting into fertilizer for our gardens, closing the cycle within the same complex.
• Post-consumer Management: We actively participate in collective plans for packaging collection in the market.
• Certification: Our strategy is verifiable. We hold a Circular Economy certification by local firm in Colombia, "Empresa comprometida con la encomia circular” endorsing our efforts in ecodesign, reverse logistics, and resource recovery.
• Competence Strengthening: We implement continuous complementary training programs focused on skills for the future. Through bilingualism initiatives in rural areas and academic reinforcement, we empower students with a new language as a tool that allow them to face an interconnected and competitive world.
• Socio-emotional Skills: We understand sport as a school for life. Through methodologies like "Fútbol con Corazón" (Soccer with Heart), we use sports practice to foster values, peaceful conflict resolution, and productive use of free time, reducing social risks like school dropout and violence.
• Dignified Educational Infrastructure: We put our products and experience at the service of learning. In alliance with the local authorities nearby our operations and through the Alfa Volunteering Program, we execute structural improvements in public institutions (classrooms, sanitary facilities, and common areas), guaranteeing that students have safe and motivating spaces for their development.
• Environmental Awareness: We train new generations as agents of change. In coordination with environmental authorities, we develop experiential workshops on the conservation of strategic ecosystems, connecting education with social development.
• Vocational Guidance and Life Project: We accompany senior students in the decisive transition from school to productive life. In alliance with local partners and other organizations we created the "Vocational School" that gives socio-occupational guidance that allow students to identify their skills and make informed decisions about their professional future.
• Territorial Educational Planning: We go beyond the classroom. We provide technical support to local authorities in the massive characterization of students, generating the necessary data for key infrastructure projects, such as structuring the future University Multicampus, in Soacha Colombia.
• Inclusive and Rural Entrepreneurship: We boost local talent with a differential focus. We provide technical, administrative, and commercial training to rural youth to strengthen their ventures (especially in food and manufacturing) to overcome barriers to business creation.
• Connection with Real Markets: We know that an entrepreneur's success lies in selling. We facilitate our beneficiaries access to commercial platforms, connecting local supply with new customers.
• Ecosystem Dynamization: We act as a connecting node. Through the "Red Soacha Intégrate" and service fairs, we articulate public and private offers to bring employment and training opportunities closer to thousands of inhabitants, strengthening the economic dynamics of our zone of influence.
• Employees Well-being - En Obra Naranja: Our commitment starts in the inside. Through the "En Obra Naranja" initiative, we articulate a solidarity fund managed in alliance with the La Cayena Foundation. We join corporate efforts and voluntary donations to remodel our employees' homes, ensuring that those who manufacture our products also enjoy safe, comfortable homes full of well-being for their families.
• Infrastructure for the Community – Contruyendo Sueños con Alfa: We support the physical adaptation of community halls, foundations, and social service centers in nearby areas to our industrial operation. By donating our products (tiles, paints, adhesives), we dignify the places where the community meets and works together, strengthening the social impact and services of our beneficiaries.
• Infrastructure Renewal: We take our essence to the community. Alfa volunteers actively participate in the physical adaptation of schools and community spaces, applying locative improvements that return dignity and color to spaces.
• Environmental Volunteering: We connect with the territory. We organize field days where our teams participate in reforestation activities, ecosystem cleanups, and environmental education, promoting conservation and food security through direct action.
• Mentoring and Knowledge Transfer: Our professionals donate their experience to empower others' futures. We provide technical advice to local entrepreneurs and orientation talks to students, transferring skills that strengthen their entrepreneur projects.

In the heart of Cundinamarca, Soacha has become the place of a solid alliance between Fundación La Cayena and Grupo Alfa. This strategic collaboration has been fundamental in driving projects that improve the quality of life for thousands of people in our Area of Influence, covering diverse lines of action.

Over the last three years, we have implemented innovative educational programs that provide boys, girls, and young people with the necessary tools to build a promising future. From preschool to highschool, we foster the development of skills and competencies that allow them to reach their goals and contribute to the progress of their community.
Aware of the importance of economic autonomy, Fundación La Cayena and Alfa work together to boost income generation and entrepreneurship in Soacha. Through training programs and technical support, we provide people with the tools and knowledge needed to start or strengthen their own ventures, thus generating a positive impact on the local economy.

Efforts have also focused on improving habitability conditions and community well-being. Through projects for housing infrastructure improvement and community spaces, we create environments that are safer, healthier, and conducive to the integral development of the community.

Finally, we have actively promoted citizen participation and the strengthening of the social bases in the municipality. Promoting networks and spaces for dialogue and collaboration that seeks to empower the community to be responsible for its own development, building a more prosperous and equitable future for all.

Behind each of these initiatives is a name: that of one of the more than 100 Alfa employees than sponsors and volunteers. Their generosity and commitment have made it possible for thousands of people to see their lives transformed. Their support goes beyond money and time dedication; it is an investment in a better future and in building a fairer, more supportive world.

Today, technology defines a person's ability to project themselves professionally. At Alfa, our sustainability strategy seeks to deliver tools that allow new generations to be the protagonists of their own development. This year, we began a deep commitment to the youth of Soacha, in Colombia. Through a three-year learning path, we are accompanying 250 students from the Nuevo Compartir and Santa Ana educational institutions.
The goal is clear: to strengthen their digital competencies now, so that by the time they graduate, they have a real competitive advantage for higher education and quality jobs.
This project comes to life thanks to a collaborative model where each ally contributes a fundamental piece:
To ensure this knowledge lasts, the program includes teacher training, leaving an installed capacity that benefits the entire educational ecosystem. Students learn to solve problems and create digital solutions—skills the current labor market urgently demands. At Alfa, we are convinced that sustainability is built through constant processes.
They say that "charity begins at home," but at Alfa, we prefer to say that well-being begins at home. We know that behind every product we manufacture there are hardworking hands, and those hands deserve to arrive, at the end of the day, to a safe, dignified, and welcoming home.
Under this premise, "En Obra Naranja" was born and has grown—our flagship internal habitability initiative that proves that when we come together as a family, we are capable of transforming realities.
This program, developed in alliance with Fundación La Cayena, isn't just about a physical remodel. We aren't just looking for things to "look pretty"; we want the home to be a refuge of security and dignity.
Whether it's improving a kitchen, upgrading a bathroom, or reinforcing a structure, every intervention has a profound impact on the mental health and family coexistence of our collaborators. We have seen how a home upgrade translates into peace of mind for parents and a better study environment for their children.
What makes "En Obra Naranja" unique is not just the result, but the process. This is a model of circular solidarity. The fund that finances these works is nourished by the voluntary contribution of the coworkers themselves. Today, we have a network of "Donor Colleagues" who, month after month, contribute seed capital. It’s a powerful message: I help you today, because we are part of the same team.
The results inspire us to go for more. Following the success of the first interventions in Atlántico, Antioquia, and Cundinamarca in Colombia, our vision is to scale the impact. For the 2026 horizon, we have set an ambitious goal: to transform the lives of 15 new applicants and their families. To achieve this, we are mobilizing efforts to reach a fundraising goal of $20 million pesos through internal donations and resource management.
At Grupo Alfa, sustainability has a human face. "En Obra Naranja" is living proof that our organizational culture transcends offices and plants; it reaches the living room, the kitchen, and the bedroom of our employees. Because there is no better work than the one built with the heart.
On the path of sustainability, the biggest risk is taking things for granted. Often, as companies, we trust that our good intentions are enough, assuming we are generating the desired impact without stopping to measure its real reach. It is common to believe we are doing well simply because we act with a genuine purpose, but at Alfa, we decided to go beyond intuition.
We wanted certainty. We needed to confirm if our actions were truly building the future we dream of and if they responded to a comprehensive strategy capable of addressing all our challenges. That is why we voluntarily submitted ourselves to the evaluation of the Corporación Fenalco Solidario, recently obtaining their Social Responsibility Certificate.
More than an award to display, this certificate is the result of a rigorous diagnostic process that examined our management in 8 critical areas, including Environment, Community, Clients, Corporate Governance, and, of course, our Employees. Opening our doors to this external scrutiny was an exercise of transparency. We weren't looking for applause, but for a conscious and objective evaluation of our performance and initiatives.
Receiving this certification is a powerful message for our Alfa Family and our stakeholders: we are not improvising. This certificate validates that initiatives like the Bilingualism program in Soacha or transforming homes with En Obra Naranja are not isolated efforts or fleeting philanthropy. They are part of a structured and coherent ecosystem that meets demanding sustainable development standards. It gives us the technical and moral security of knowing that we are moving in the right direction.
However, the most valuable thing Fenalco Solidario gave us wasn't the diploma, but the roadmap. Sustainability is an infinite path, and this process allowed us to identify gaps with precision. The diagnosis showed us where we are leaders, but also illuminated those zones where we have opportunities for improvement. Far from hiding these challenges, we embrace them.
We understand this certificate as a "compass for continuous improvement." It helps us prioritize investments, adjust processes, and define new goals to close those gaps year after year, ensuring that our economic growth always goes hand in hand with social progress.
By carrying this Social Responsibility Certificate, we assume a public commitment: not to settle. At Alfa, sustainability is not a destination we have already reached; it is the way we choose to walk every day, caring for Real Life. And today, we have the certainty that our steps are going in the right direction.
When we choose a floor or wall covering for our home, we usually focus on color, texture, or format. But at Alfa, we believe the true beauty of a product lies in what isn't visible to the eye: its footprint on the planet. Guided by the philosophy of our founder, Pier Carlo Boggio — "Whenever possible, try to leave things better than you found them" — we have transformed the way we manufacture. Today, our products are designed from their origin to care for real life.
The traditional ceramic industry is known for being resource-intensive. To change this reality, Alfa pioneered dry milling technology. By eliminating water during the raw material grinding phase, we achieve the most efficient standard for ceramic production. This process allows us to save 2,9 liters of water and 0,5 m³ of natural gas for every square meter produced, drastically reducing our footprint compared to wet milling processes.
Water is a vital and finite resource. Our production complex in Soacha operates as a closed "Zero Discharge" ecosystem. We treat and recirculate 100% of our wastewater, achieving total water circularity. In fact, at least 60% of the water we incorporate into our products comes from recovered sources, decreasing our demand on natural sources by 40%.
A truly sustainable product maximizes every resource. We recover and reintegrate 100% of non-conforming ceramic material and 100% of clay that doesn't meet initial standards. What was once considered waste is now the raw material for a new product.
Our environmental commitment extends across our entire portfolio:
At Alfa, sustainability is a permanent evolution. Every product is proof that cutting-edge design and high-performance engineering can—and must—coexist with caring for our planet.
The transition from school to the professional world is one of the greatest challenges a young person faces. At Alfa, we know talent is everywhere, but guidance opportunities are not. Since 2023, we have been consolidating the Vocational School and Skills for Work project, helping students in Soacha, Colombia, dream of their future and map out the route to reach it.
The Socio-Occupational Orientation (OSO) methodology allows students to connect their personal interests with the current demands of the productive environment. This process facilitates informed decision-making, ensuring that each young person strengthens their profile and develops the competencies that today's labor market demands.
The results speak to the consistency of the process:
The scale of this project is possible thanks to a structure of allies who share our vision of transformation. Under the strategic coordination of Fundación La Cayena and the fundamental articulation with the Secretary of Education of Soacha, we join forces with leading organizations such as Fundación Corona, Fundación Telefónica, Conviventia, SENA, and Sentido Común. Together, we transform vocational education into a driver for social mobility.
At Alfa, we believe that orientation is the first step, but accompaniment must be continuous. Therefore, looking toward 2026 fills us with enthusiasm. We are working on strengthening our network of allies to take a step forward: supporting several of our outstanding students in crystallizing their goal of higher education.
Very soon, thanks to new international collaborations joining this purpose, we will be able to announce the mechanisms for these young people to access university scholarships, allowing the effort made in the classrooms to transform it to a professional degree. We are convinced that, by opening these doors, we are driving the development and transformation of an entire community.
